Chicago Bears – Jay Cutler

Why is he the pick?

As if there was another option. Cutler is a constant lightning rod in the Windy City and for good reason. One week, Cutler will appear to be the best quarterback in the game, making all the throws and avoiding turnovers. The following game, Cutler throws a trio of interceptions and pouts on the sideline for the nation to mock his plight. It’s a rollercoaster.

Cutler gets another opportunity with his third head coach in Chicago, this time drawing John Fox. Fox is coming off a situation where he had Peyton Manning, so dealing with Cutler’s inconsistency will certainly be a change. Cutler is on a long-term deal but Chicago might move on if Cutler can’t get the job done. This might be his final chance to prove his worth with a loaded group of weapons.

What is at stake?

The fans are sick and tired of watching Cutler come up small in big moments, throwing interceptions because he refuses to learn from his previous mistakes. Many have said that Cutler is the modern-day Jeff George, and that is appearing more and more to be a very apt comparison. Ultimately, George bounced around and washed out of the league.
