Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Johnthan Banks

Why is he the pick?

Banks was originally drafted by the Buccaneers in 2013 so he could pair with Darrelle Revis and form a dynamic duo in Tampa Bay’s secondary. Of course, that plan was aborted almost immediately as Revis left the Buccaneers after one season to play with the New England Patriots, while Banks got a new backfield partner in corner Alterraun Verner.

Last year, Banks ranked third among corners on Tampa Bay according to Pro Football Focus, checking in 93rd out of 108 corners with a grade of -8.8. Banks is still projected to have a starting spot opposite of Verner, but entering his third season, it is time for Banks to step up and become a contributor.

What is at stake?

Any chance at competing in the division. Tampa Bay should have a loaded offense with Jameis Winston, Doug Martin, Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson. However, the defense has some major question marks both up front and in the secondary. If Banks can finally turn the corner and give Verner some help on the opposite side, the entire defense gets better.
