NFL preseason 2015: Players with most to prove
St. Louis Rams – Nick Foles
Why is he the pick?
Foles is coming into the Rams with many believing he is the difference-maker who can produce a playoff contender in the Gateway City. Foles was acquired this offseason by general manager Les Snead from the Philadelphia Eagles for Sam Bradford, with a second-round pick also going to the Rams. Foles was a Pro Bowler in 2013 after leading the Eagles to an NFC East title, throwing 27 touchdowns against two interceptions.
However, Foles looked erratic at times in 2014. His footwork and mechanics became sloppy and ultimately, Foles was knocked out for the season against the Houston Texans with a broken clavicle. If Foles can remain healthy and find his 2013 form, St. Louis could be one of the surprise teams in the NFL.
What is at stake?
Finally getting back into the playoffs. St. Louis has not been to the playoffs this decade, and is the only NFC West team not to make a trip in the last two years. Head coach Jeff Fisher is entering his fourth year with the club and needs to see some progress. Foles has shown in the past that he can take a team to the promised land. Can he do it again?
