Hardwood Paroxysm Presents: NBA player vacation destinations
Gregg Popovich Visits The Old World
Jordan White – Hardwood Paroxysm
This is the part where I’m supposed to tell you about Gregg Popovich’s vacation to various wine locales around the world – the Loire valley, Champagne, Spain to sample some Riojas and the lovely wines produced by the fascinating tempranillo grape, over to Hungary to check on their booming wine industry, Italy for a fine Soave, and the like. I would love to tell you about all this.
It would be a delight to tell you which wines Pop loved, and which he didn’t care for. We can guess, of course. Pop seems like a man who loves a good champagne, but only when the occasion calls for it. I hope he likes a nice Cotes Du Rhone (who doesn’t?!), but I have a tough time seeing him enjoying many Pinot Grigios.
Nothing would please me more than to describe his conversations with not just the owners of the winery, but those who work in the field. If I had to guess, I bet Pop rolled up his sleeves and picked a few grapes himself. Of course, I can’t tell you anything about this, even though I’m absolutely sure it happened, because I would be whisked away in the middle of the night and never seen or heard from again. Such is the way of the Spurs.
