Team Mentality

When you watch the Yankees, you get the feeling that they expect to win every single game. It doesn’t matter how much they are down or what inning it is, they have the confidence that they can come back and take care of business.

The Yankees were down 5-0 after one inning against Texas late last month. They responded with 21 straight runs and the bullpen threw eight no-hit innings. They had enough offense and enough pitching to turn it around.

The Yankees have plenty of players who have World Series and playoff experience up and down the roster. That can help bring the younger players along and teach them the right way to go about things.

Joe Girardi’s managerial style will drive you crazy. Especially when he changes pitchers in the middle of at-bats. However, all things considered, he’s done a pretty good job. He makes sure guys get their rest, especially considering the age of some of the players on this roster.

He helped keep the Yankees in contention down the stretch the past two seasons, at times when they were decimated by injuries and didn’t exactly have enough talent to get through.

This Yankee team is different than the ones in the past couple of seasons that missed the playoffs. They have a highly productive offense, a great bullpen, the means to improve if need be, a good mentality with good leadership and enough starting pitching to get by.

Sprinkle it all together and you may have enough for a 2015 World Championship.
