Jose Peraza, 2B, Los Angeles Dodgers

Once a very highly regarded prospect, Peraza has fallen off a bit in 2015 but still is plenty intriguing as a young piece. The Dodgers got a by acquiring Peraza from the Atlanta Braves and seem like a good organization to fully maximize his skill set.

There’s no doubt that Peraza will provide value on the bases once he is called up to the major leagues. Peraza stole a whopping 60 bags last year between two levels and had 26 steals in 96 Triple-A games before the trade to Los Angeles.

With at least average defense as a middle infielder, the question with Peraza has always been if his bat will stick. Peraza has absolutely no power, so he would have to demonstrate excellent contact skills to earn a shot at the Majors.

For a while, Peraza did exactly that. Peraza ran a strikeout rate of 7.7 percent in his first triple to Double-A according to FanGraphs and posted a 121 wRC+behind a .335 average.

Things didn’t go quite as well at Triple-A this season. Peraza’s average dipped to .296, lowering his wRC+ to a below-average 97.

If Peraza can get back to his previous level at the plate, he will be a very valuable major leaguer. Even if he doesn’t, Peraza excels at enough skills to make him a nice bench piece.
