Resources

Toronto has the resources to get things done. Alex Anthopoulos is not afraid of trying to improve this team, and will get it back to the playoffs for the first time in 22 years.

With questions about Devon Travis, he added Cliff Pennington to the second base mix. If the team needs another bat or arm before August 31, you better believe he will get it done. The chips are in the middle of the table. He’s all in.

Rogers Communications, Toronto’s owner, is one of the biggest communications companies in the world. Extra cash, plus the increased attendance and interest in the club, shouldn’t make adding a piece an issue.

Of course, they could add internally. Marcus Stroman tore his ACL back in February, but he could be back in time to help a push for the playoffs. The Jays can bring back Dalton Pompey to help out in the outfield if they need to as well. Michael Saunders is supposed to return from his knee injury in September, so that’s another bat they can add to the stable.

The Toronto Blue Jays are the hottest team in baseball. They have all the pieces to end baseball’s longest playoff drought and win the whole thing. Come October, more eyes in Toronto may be on baseball than on the Maple Leafs for the first time in a long time.
