1. Seattle Seahawks

How could it anybody else? Seattle may be the boring pick, but it is certainly the correct one. The Seahawks have led the league in each of the past three seasons in scoring defense, putting on a clinic down the stretch of the 2014 season to get them back in the Super Bowl. This group is one of the rare teams that relies more on its secondary than its front seven.

The Legion of Boom is undergoing a bit of a makeover with the departure of Byron Maxwell in free agency. Maxwell went to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles for six years and $63 million. Ironically, Maxwell is replacing Cary Williams, who came to Seattle for a three-year contract. The rest of the elite group remains in tact with safeties Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor, along with football’s best corner, Richard Sherman.

The front seven is not without its stars. Brandon Mebane is back from injury to provide a solid push from the defensive tackle position, while Bobby Wagner patrols the middle with a new contract. Wagner is one of the finest linebackers in football, playing both the run and pass equally well. Provided the Seahawks have good health, this defense remains the best in the business.
