1. Steve Young

This was really no contest. Young was a star at Brigham Young University before being drafted in 1984 by the Los Angeles Express of the now-defunct United States Football League. He then signed an unheard of contract of 10 years and $40 million, but only played two seasons with the Express before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1985.

Young only lasted two years with the dysfunctional Buccaneers before being traded to the San Francisco 49ers, where he backed up Joe Montana for four seasons, winning a pair of Super Bowls in the process. Due to injury, Young took over for Montana in 1991 and never looked back, becoming a Hall of Famer after a career that lasted through the 1999 season.

Young won a Super Bowl as a starter in 1994, throwing six touchdowns in the game and earning Super Bowl MVP honors. Young was a seven-time Pro Bowler and six-time All-Pro, while also winning the league MVP awards in 1992 and 1994. All told, Young ended his illustrious career with 33,124 passing yards and 232 touchdowns, while adding another 4,239 rushing yards and 43 touchdowns on the ground.
