They are the most complete team in baseball

The biggest reason why the St. Louis Cardinals will be such a threat this postseason is simple: there is not another team in MLB that is as complete as they are.

Disregard the forgettable offensive statistics and the injury plagued roster. The fact that all but one hitter in the starting lineup is batting above the .265-mark is a telling sign of their consistency. When Matt Holliday, Matt Adams and Jon Jay return to action, the argument can be made that there is not a deeper lineup in all of baseball.

Thanks to an all-time great pitching staff, the Cardinals do not need produce runs at a prolific rate. In addition to the historic performance of their bullpen and starting rotation, the pitching staff as a whole is having the best performance we have witnessed in over four decades. Even when runners manage to get on base, this pitching wizardry, accompanied by a stellar defensive unit, quickly shuts down any scoring possibilities.

If they can manage to get healthy and attain the offensive production that they are capable of, the Cardinals will be downright unstoppable in the postseason. As of right now, they are already the team to beat in the National League.

St. Louis has an elite starting pitching rotation, a dominant bullpen, a reliable defense and a lineup that is deep enough to become dangerous in October. All of these factors combined create a team that has every capability of winning the 2015 World Series.
