NFL 2015: Ranking the 32 offenses
24. Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills fans are not going to be happy with this, but it comes down to the quarterback. In the NFL, you need to be able to go through progressions and avoid interceptions. Between Tyrod Taylor, Matt Cassel and EJ Manuel, does anybody show the ability to do that? Cassel is starting the first preseason game, so he looks like the starter going forward if he can hold the job.
Cassel has playmakers around him in running backs LeSean McCoy and Fred Jackson, who are going to be shouldering the load. Buffalo has made it no secret that it plans on pounding the football day and night on the ground. Opponents are going to stack the box and hope to limit the rushing attack, forcing Cassel to beat them in man coverage on the outside.
Other than Sammy Watkins, who is going to have a safety rolled over the top of him, which receiver scares a defense? Percy Harvin has not been a true difference-maker in years and Robert Woods is competent but hardly a true weapon on most days. Charles Clay is a good tight end, but is he a massive upgrade over the departed Scott Chandler? The offense has talent, but the quarterback will kill it.
