21. LaDainian Tomlinson
For many younger NFL fans, LaDainian Tomlinson is one of the best NFL running backs they watched. Tomlinson was drafted in 2001 by the San Diego Chargers and spent the majority of his career there, excluding two seasons with the New York Jets before he retired in 2011.
Tomlinson was a dynamic running back who was a threat in the ground game, out of the backfield and at times throwing. Tomlinson threw seven touchdown passes over his career.
Tomlinson was a Pro Bowler on five different occasions, was named an All-Pro six different times and led the league in rushing on two different occasions. When Tomlinson retired he had placed himself near the top of several all-time lists. He was ranked fifth in career rushing yards with a total of 13,684 and seventh in all-purpose yards, a total of 18,456. Tomlinson had a knack for finding the end zone as well, finishing his career ranked second in career rushing touchdowns with 145 and third in total touchdowns with 162.
LaDainian Tomlinson will be remembered as one of the most entertaining, dynamic and creative running backs in NFL history, but unfortunately not as a Super Bowl champion.
Tomlinson made it to the AFC Championship Game twice. The first time was with the Chargers in 2007, and they would lose to the New England Patriots. He returned in 2010 with the Jets, losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
