Brian Quick-St. Louis Rams

Whatever you think of Chip Kelly’s overhaul in Philadelphia, one by-product of the roster work was an upgrade at QB for the Rams compared to what they had to work with last year. With Sam Bradford never taking a regular season snap, Austin Davis and Shaun Hill split the role last year and led a struggling St. Louis passing game.  This year, Nick Foles takes over under center which should lead to more chances for the St. Louis receiving corps.

The most promising player in that group, based on last year’s flashes of potential is Brian Quick. Quick has played three years with the Rams after being drafted out of Appalachian State.  He got off to a good start last year with a pair of seven-catch games to open the season and ultimately set career highs in catches (25), yards (375), and touchdowns (3) despite only playing seven games.

Quick went down in week eight of last season with a significant shoulder injury that could have ended his career according to Coach Jeff Fisher.  He has come back well, though and isn’t even on the PUP list this preseason.  He did not play in the team’s preseason opener, but he’s locked in to the starting role across from Kenny Britt with Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey figuring into the mix as gadget-play and third-receiver sets.

Quick should be back on the field soon, and I expect him to be the team’s #1 WR by the end of the season.  Especially with his injury concerns, at this point you can find him at the end of most fantasy football draft, but a top WR option on almost any NFL team is worth considering since he’ll have big weeks when the team is forced to throw the ball a ton.

Quick also has the ability to stretch the field as a deep threat and could post some nice numbers if he can develop a rapport with Nick Foles this preseason.  If you are searching for WR depth, Quick is on of the first names to look for.
