Home Field Advantage

Another reason the Pirates could, and will, win it all is the fact that they are nearly unbeatable at PNC Park.

Sure, the American League won the All-Star Game and therefore gets home-field advantage in the World Series because of the most ridiculous rule in sports, but if the Pirates can somehow come back and win the NL Central (which is entirely possible) teams will have a tough time traveling to the Northeast to play Pittsburgh.

On the season, Pittsburgh is 42-19 at PNC Park — tied for the least amount of losses at home of any team in the league this year. The only team with a better record is St. Louis, and that’s because the Cardinals have played five more home games.

Let’s not forget that the crowd in Pittsburgh was electric a couple of years ago when the Pirates advanced past the Wild Card Game and ended up getting bounced in the National League Division Series by the Cardinals, 3-2.

Bring back postseason baseball to Pittsburgh and you may see the best fans come out in full force once again, as the sea of black is quite daunting for opponents.
