17. 1967 Los Angeles Rams

This is a team that time has forgotten. The legendary head coach George Allen was at the helm of this group, a team led by Hall of Fame defensive linemen Merlin Olsen and Deacon Jones. The offense was also equipped with plenty of talent including quarterback Roman Gabriel, running back Dick Bass and receiver Jack Snow.

Los Angeles was the odds-on favorite to win Super Bowl II with the defending champion-Green Bay Packers looking like an old team. The Rams came out of the gate quickly, winning the first three games of the year before sustaining a loss and consecutive ties. From there, Los Angeles ran off eight consecutive victories including a win over the Packers in December, giving it an 11-1-2 mark and the Coastal Division championship.

However, the Rams laid a massive egg in the Western Conference title game, getting hammered 28-7 at Milwaukee County Stadium by Green Bay. Los Angeles would miss the playoffs in 1968 but returned in 1969, losing once again in the semifinals to the Minnesota Vikings. The Rams would not reach the Super Bowl until 1979, and not win a title until 1999.
