Tom Coughlin – New York Giants

Tom Coughlin is no stranger to the hot seat. It’s almost as though Jerry Reese throws him on it every couple of years in order to light a fire underneath one of the longest tenured coaches in the league.

However, this time might be the last straw. Coughlin is three years removed from winning the Super Bowl in New York and the team secured a playoff spot just once in the last six seasons, missing it each of the last three years. Add to the fact tht 2014 was an unmitigated disaster in New York, with the Giants struggling to a 6-10 record, and the afterglow of the Super Bowl has officially worn off.

At 68-years-old, the days on Coughlin’s tenure as a coach won’t go on forever and New York may be looking for some new blood if the season doesn’t produce a playoff run. The Giants brought back Steve Spaguolo to help fix the defense, but his presence may also serve as an heir apparent to Coughlin.

Then again, as I mentioned, Coughlin has been put on the hot seat before. And it seems that any time that Coughlin’s job is in jeopardy, the Giants find a way to win a Super Bowl. Could 2015 bring another one?
