Though they haven’t been much to look at on the field, the Florida Gators have trotted out plenty of talent onto the field over the past handful of years. From Joe Haden to Major Wright to the Pouncey Brothers to one Timothy Richard Tebow, the boys from old Florida have not only sent talent into the NFL, but also some of the league’s most popular players.

Just how popular are they?

Well, according to the DICK’S Sporting Goods Jersey Report, the Florida Gators rank No. 1 of all universities in terms of jersey sales. Better than that, Joe Haden tops the charts of all jerseys sold in the NFL – offense or defense.

Beyond Florida’s slot at No. 1, the SEC notched three other schools in the top-5. Tennessee is No. 3, thanks to Peyton Manning and Eric Berry primarily, and LSU is No. 4 – due largely to Odell Beckham’s breakout rookie campaign. Stanford at No. 2 and Oklahoma at No. 5 round out the top-5.

Though the Gators bottomed out in the last two seasons and are on their third coach since 2010, they’ve pumped serious talent into the National Football League. Over the past five years, 27 Florida players have been selected in the NFL Draft, seven of whom were taken in the first round.

With one of the nation’s most fervent fan bases, a top corner in the league, and one of the game’s most polarizing players, Florida is doing serious work on the merchandise front. It’s great to be a Florida Gator indeed.
