1. Chicago Bears

New head coach John Fox has his work cut out for him, doesn’t he?

He’s got a stubborn quarterback who may or may not be a jerk depending on that week’s media narrative. He’s got a shattered defense which is still struggling to rebuild. He has a wide receiver corps consisting of the amazing Alshon Jeffery and a ton of injured guys. He has a shaky offensive line.

All these things are problems, just like they were last year (save for the wide receivers). On the plus side, if rookie Kevin White can return, the receivers could look much better but you’re still talking about a first year No. 1 wide receiver in Jeffery and a rookie receiver as his No. 2. It could be a rough going.

And we know how Jay Cutler loves rough goings. Although to be honest, externally he seems to brush it off his shoulder like anything else. The rumor is that Fox is basically willing to move on from Cutler, but to who? Jimmy Clausen? Or even next year when it appears the free agent class is thin. Maybe, if they’re bad enough, they can grab someone in the 2016 NFL Draft but that’s not a position you want to be in.

Add in to all this chaos and uncertainty the very difficult division and conference they are in and it looks very bad for the Bears and their chances to make a Super Bowl this year. The Green Bay Packers aren’t slowing down, nor are the Detroit Lions. Even the Minnesota Vikings appear to be taking a large leap forward.

At the end of the day, the Bears look like a team that needs a serious rebuild, but doesn’t want to commit to one. That sort of ‘in between’ state is tough on a fanbase and makes them unlikely to be in position to make a run of any kind in 2015.
