Puigmania seemed like so long ago, but just last year the 24-year-old star outfielder was hitting .296 with 19 home runs and 69 RBI, proving that his red-hot rookie season was no fluke.
It’s his third season in the majors, however, that has people questioning whether or not he is actually worthy of big money. When it came time to talk trades at the deadline on July 31, it seemed like Puig’s name came up quite a bit for a young star, bursting with potential.
The 2015 season is one that he’d like to soon forget, though, as he’s hitting just .256 with 11 homers and 38 RBI and he just can’t seem to stay healthy.
Puig’s name almost never gets mentioned anymore when you talk about the Los Angeles Dodgers as Clayton Kershaw, Adrian Gonzalez and Zack Greinke seem to always come to mind.
Let’s hope the 2015 season is just an off-year for the Cuban-born stud because when Puig does well, it’s very good for the game of baseball. And who doesn’t like to see what type of antics he is getting into?
