10 biggest MLB disappointments in 2015: Hitters
Heading into the 2015 season, Carlos Gomez was considered one of the top hitters in baseball and it was supposed to be his breakout year. However, that hasn’t exactly panned out for the center fielder as he’s been struggling to put together a few consecutive solid games.

The one thing about Gomez that’s the most exciting is that he’s so fiery, you never know what he will do next, but the 2015 season has seen very little of that fire.
Gomez was traded by the Milwaukee Brewers to the Houston Astros at the trade deadline and, at the time, it seemed like a blockbuster deal that would instantly make the Space City ball club instant World Series favorites — not so fast.
Since joining the Astros, Gomez is hitting just .231 with two home runs, 10 RBI and 30 strikeouts in 35 games. If that wasn’t bad enough, his on-base percentage is awfully low at .273 over the past month with his new team.
The 29-year-old slugger may still become one of the best hitters in the game when, and if, he breaks out of this season-long slump, but for now, we will just have to remember the Carlos Gomez that would blast a home run and get in the catcher’s face as he crosses home plate.
