The San Diego Padres wanted to be built to last this past offseason. Adding guys like Matt Kemp and Justin Upton to an otherwise lethargic lineup was expected to help jump start this team and help it become more of a winner than it has been in years past.

  • Upton was once considered one of the top young hitters in the game, but this season he’s been considered one of the top disappointments in the game.

There’s absolutely no doubt that he has the talent to be one of the best out there, but the 28-year-old has struggled to gain any traction in 2015. He’s hitting just .255 with 24 homers and 73 RBI and his Padres are seven games under .500 for the season.

You may be looking at those stats and thinking that they aren’t so bad, but when you look at his overall body of work and what he has done in the past, he would even tell you that the 2015 season has been a disappointment for him.

The average is on pace to be the lowest in his career for a full season, his home run total is the second-lowest since 2011 and his RBI total is 30 behind last year’s mark.
