10 biggest MLB disappointments in 2015: Hitters
Just like the Padres, the Boston Red Sox added some big names this past offseason in order to bring a World Series to Beantown for the second time in the past few years.

Besides adding Rick Porcello to the pitching staff, who has also been a disappointment, the Sox added Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval to the infield — both big bats who could potentially make the infield the best, in terms of hitting, in the American League.
Sandoval, a career .289 hitter with the San Francisco Giants prior to the 2015 season, has taken a giant leap backward.
Pablo is one of the rare players who bats left-handed and throws right-handed, but he might as well be doing the exact opposite, because his bat has been ineffective this season. He’s hitting a career-low .247 with 10 homers and 44 RBI — all are on pace to be career worsts.
The Red Sox added him in order to provide a big bat at third base and add someone in the middle of the order to bolster David Ortiz’s position as the designated hitter is getting up there in age.
Boston can consider this a failed project as neither Sandoval nor Ramirez have lived up to expectations and the Red Sox find themselves in last place in the AL East.
