Tuesday nights are about to heat up once again as Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter premieres his new series The Bastard Executioner on FX Networks.

When FX Networks aired the series finale of the popular series Sons of Anarchy, fans of the series were left with a number of questions. One of the most prominent ones were what they would now do with their Tuesday nights as they would no longer have Jax Teller and the Sons of Anarchy to fill it.

The second question that came to most people’s minds is when we would see the next great project from series creator Kurt Sutter. Sutter has become known for his compelling yet incredibly brutal storylines throughout the years, having written multiple episodes of The Shield before creating Sons of Anarchy.

While jumping into a completely new realm with his new series, from what we have seen thus far we can expect many of the same emotions we felt while watching Sons of Anarchy while taking in The Bastard Executioner. The journey will begin tomorrow night when FX Networks premieres the first episode.

The story a harsh one forged in a time of political uprising and war. The Bastard Executioner takes us back to the 14th century in Wales where a warrior knight by the name of Wilkin Brattle finds himself beaten and broken by the ravages of war. Brattle has vowed to forever lay down his sword; however, things quickly change rather quickly when the unrest finds him once again. This time, he picks up his sword with a much different purpose.

If you were a fan of Sutter’s series Sons of Anarchy, you are going to see quite a few familiar faces in The Bastard Executioner. One of the most recognizable will be Sutter’s wife Katey Sagal. Most people will recognize her as Gemma Teller, the Queen of SAMCRO and mother to Jax Teller on Sons of Anarchy.

In The Bastard Executioner, she will be playing a woman by the name of Annora of the Alders. Annora serves as a sort of spiritual guidance for Wilkin and keeps him headed down the path to embracing and achieving his fate. While there are parallels to her character from SOA, Annora is a bit of a change of pace for Sagal.

Sons fans will also recognize Timothy V. Murphy in the new series. Murphy played the role of Galen O’Shay in Sons of Anarchy, a member of the True IRA and a member of the council known as “The Irish Kings.” In The Bastard Executioner, he plays the role of a man by the name of Father Ruskin.

There will be plenty of new faces in The Bastard Executioner as well. Relatively new actor Lee Jones will be playing the role of Wilkin Brattle. By his side will be Elen Rhys, who will play the role of Brattle’s lovely wife Petra. Also leading the cast of The Bastard Executioner is True Blood star Stephen Moyer as Milus Corbett, a man with great political aspirations who gains a manner of control over Brattle.

Another familiar face making their way onto the cast of The Bastard Executioner is Grammy Award nominated singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran, who will be playing a recurring guest role of Sir Cormac. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he will serve as an “ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder.”

We don’t know about you, but we are incredibly excited to see what The Bastard Executioner holds for us all. Judging by what we have seen thus far, we are in for a compelling story filled with the kind of blood, guts, and violence we have all come to expect from Kurt Sutter. In other words, it is going to be one crazy adventure that we won’t want to miss a moment of.

The Bastard Executioner premieres on Tuesday, September 15th at 10:00 p.m. on FX Networks.
