Ronnie Hillman-RB-Denver Broncos (46.7%)

While the Broncos offense was not inspiring week 1 and is in a tough matchup week 2 (more on that momentarily), Ronnie Hillman is still an intriguing pickup although he’s dropped way down this list since he was my #1 pickup last week.

Hillman has value because he played a big part in the Broncos attack as weak as it was week 1 against the Ravens.  He actually ended up with as many carries as starting RB C.J. Anderson who many fantasy football owners drafted in the first round of their drafts.  Not only did Hillman match Anderson’s carries he actually outreached him 41 yards to 29 yards. Granted, Anderson did add 19 yards on four catches while Hillman was not targeted him the passing game, but there is much more of a timeshare here than many were expecting.

Last week, I said that Hillman needed to be owned in all leagues based on the Broncos offensive firepower.  While that offensive firepower is now in question after a woeful performance week 1, I still think Hillman is a great add since Gary Kubiak looks ready to give him plenty of carries in an offense that I still think will be solid as the season goes on.  Hillman is a nice fit for Kubiak’s zone-blocking scheme, so add Hillman to your bench for some depth as the season goes on.  That being said, I would not start Hillman this week if at all possible since the Broncos are on a quick turnaround and will face a stout Chiefs defense in Arrowhead on Thursday night. Speaking of the Chiefs defense….
