Week 2: at Green Bay Packers

The upset everyone could see coming Week One was in St. Louis, where the Rams beat the defending NFC Champions in overtime. Marshawn Lynch had 1 yard to go on fourth down near midfield, and he ran straight into a wall of RAM.

Maybe a slant route to Ricardo Lockette would work next time. Much safer.

The Rams have had the Seahawks figured since Pete Carroll has taken over as head coach. The Rams are 4-2 at home against Seattle with Carroll on the other sideline.

On Sunday, this was clearly a combination of the Seahawks floundering offensive line and the Rams stalwart defensive front. Beyond just the fourth down stuff in overtime, Russell Wilson barely had any time to throw before the inside of the line collapsed from defensive tackles Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers. Wilson was still effective, but other than a shoestring touchdown to Jimmy Graham, the Seahawks couldn’t take advantage of favorable matchups downfield.

Throw in the visible absence of Kam Chancellor that lead to a big day from Nick Foles, and the Seahawks looked particularly vulnerable.

They have the toughest – and most tantalizing – Week Two matchup in the league. The Seahawks struggles along the offensive line might not be as lethal when they visit the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau; Green Bay’s front seven struggled mightily to stop Matt Forte and his multi-faceted attack, and will face an equally difficult – if stylistically opposite – player in Lynch.

But if Nick Foles can tear up the depleted Legion of Boom, then Aaron Rodgers could have a field day. The Seahawks can’t afford to go down 0-2 first to a rising divisional opponent, then next to their biggest rival for NFC supremecy in Green Bay. Fortunately for them, they avoid an 0-2 hole behind Marshawn Lynch for a 33-30 victory over the Packers.
