High Value Wide Receivers

Brandin Cooks-New Orleans Saints (7,400): Cooks had an underwhelming week one catching just four passes on eight targets for a total of 49 yards.  Cooks was facing the Cardinals defense which is excellent and was on the road, so there is some good reasons for his down week. This week, I expect a huge week from Cooks in week 2 as he and the Saints come home and take on the Bucs.  He’s a great value at this price and is definitely in my top lineup since I think they’ll feed him targets all day long against a suspect Bucs’ secondary.

Jarvis Landry-Miami Dolphins (7,100): Landry began what I think will be his breakout season with a strong game against the Redskins.  His highlight play came on a punt return for a touchdown that won the game but he also caught eight of his team-high 12 targets for 53 yards and is becoming a PPR monster.  He and the Dolphins get a good matchup against the Jags in week 2, so look for Landry to stay productive at a very affordable price

Jordan Matthews-Philadelphia Eagles (7,000): Despite an easy drop that turned into an interception that ended the game and a touchdown that didn’t count, Matthews finished week one with a solid stat line catching ten passes for 102 yards.  He’ll be the focal point of the Eagles attack this week as well, and I think he should continue what will be his breakout sophomore season.

Davante Adams-Green Bay Packers (6,400): Adams didn’t explode in week 1 like James Jones did with a pair of scores, but the good news for his prospects going forward is that he was targeted a team-high eight times.  Adams caught four of those passes for 59 yards, and as the year goes on I expect the touchdowns to come.  This week, he’s in a tough matchup against the Legion of Boom on Sunday Night Football, but Richard Sherman will likely focus on Randall Cobb which could earn Adams some extra attention from Aaron Rodgers.

Terrance Williams-Dallas Cowboys (6,300): One of the best sleeper picks for this week and one that will be widely owned due to his price point is Terrance Williams of the Cowboys.  Williams suddenly becomes Dallas’s top wide receiver with Dez Bryant injured, and the 3rd-year receiver out of Baylor looks ready to step into a larger role.  He has always done well when he’s involved, but there weren’t enough targets to go around for him, Dez, and Jason Witten.  While Witten will still get plenty of looks, I think Dez’s absence will make Williams a top 20 option for the next several weeks, and I think he’s a steal at just 4,200 this week against an Eagles secondary that was crushed by Julio Jones and the Falcons and will be on a short week coming into week 2.

Donte Moncrief-Indianapolis Colts (6,000): The Colts appear to have dodged a bullet with T.Y. Hilton’s knee injury not being major. He was diagnosed with a bruised knee and is considered day-to-day, but he’s expected to miss the next few weeks.  In his absence, Moncrief is in a great place to step up. In week 1, he was targeted a whopping 11 times catching six passes for 46 yards and a touchdown.  Moncrief would move into a starting role with Hilton out and his play-making ability makes him a great consideration.  The one hesitancy to playing him this week is that he is in a tough matchup against the Jets secondary who will probably be without Antonio Cromartie.

Stevie Johnson-San Diego Chargers (5,700): One of my most successful sleepers in week one was Stevie Johnson who produced 17.2 FanDuel points in week one.  He caught all six passes thrown his way in week one finishing with 82 yards and a touchdown.  With Malcom Floyd disappearing and Antonio Gates suspended, I expect Johnson to remain very involved in the passing game this week as he and Philip Rivers continue to form a connection.

Ted Ginn Jr.-Carolina Panthers (4,700): Ginn is getting plenty of work in Carolina due to their thin wide receiver corps.  He was targeted seven times in week 1 finishing with two catches and 54 yards. While he isn’t someone you want to rely on form week to week since he relies on big plays to produce points, he can be used as a cheap flier, and you can hope he and Cam connect on one of the deep throws he usually gets which gives him a lot of upside at this price.  He is a high-risk, high-reward flier this week against the Texans.

Last Week: Jeremy Maclin, Golden Tate, Jarvis Landry, Jordan Matthews, Allen Robinson, Daante Adams, Steve Johnson
