By Jason Evans
15. Randy Johnson 2002
Fourth straight Cy Young Award
24 wins
334 strikeouts
Oh look it who is. We kick off our final 15 with Randy Johnson’s fourth appearance on this list. It would be the last one Johnson would win.
Johnson would again go undefeated in April and win six games before May 1 for the second straight year. He struck out 17 batters twice. He would pitch in at least seven innings in every start except four. He had a five start streak in late July and August with at least 10 strikeouts.
Johnson completed the pitching triple crown, winning 24 games, striking out 334 and posting a 2.32 ERA. His 10.7 WAR was second in the league behind that Barry Bonds guy who was pretty good.
Johnson had a WHIP of 0.96 in a league leading 260 innings. He threw eight complete games which led the NL and 4 shutouts which was second in the league.
Johnson went 24-5 which was the first time in MLB history anyone had had that record.
It was the fifth time Johnson would strike out over 300 batters in a season and his fourth straight.
Johnson would finish second in the Cy Young voting in 2004 and win more than 16 games three more times.
