Top 30 Cy Young Award Winners of all-time
By Jason Evans
27. Clayton Kershaw 2011
21 wins
2.28 ERA
248 strikeouts
7.2 WAR
Clayton Kershaw has done a lot of things in his MLB career. Three time Cy Young winner. MVP. Got paid five Brinks trucks worth of money. It all started with his 2011 season which comes in at number 27 on the list.
Kershaw won the NL pitching triple crown. He won 21 games, struck out 248 batters with a 2.28 ERA. He only gave up 6.7 hits per nine innings, which also lead the league. He was fifth among all NL players in WAR and third among pitchers, just behind Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee.
He was second among all pitchers in K/9 ratio, behind future teammate Zack Greinke. His 2.47 FIP was second behind Halladay.
Kershaw is regarded as the best pitcher in the game. The scary thing is he may only be getting better and is just 27 years old. He just can’t get past the Cardinals in the playoffs. This also won’t be the last time you’ll be seeing the lefty on this list either.
