The TCU Horned Frogs are currently ranked No. 3 in the AP Top 25, making them a legitimate national championship contender. Few people expect the Frogs to be challenged between now and the November 27 season finale against Baylor, which most predict will be the de facto Big 12 championship game.

However, the TCU defense – already thin due to injury – suffered another setback this week when defensive end Mike Tuaua was one of two players arrested as the result of an alleged robbery. Though Tuaua hasn’t played in either of the last two weeks for TCU, the arrest could be a distraction for a team traveling to Lubbock to face a suddenly red-hot Texas Tech squad. Plus, the Frogs have been scuffling a bit on the defense side of the ball already – they allowed 37 points and 508 total yards to SMU last week.

Texas Tech is 3-0 following a 35-24 road victory over Arkansas. The Red Raiders are clicking on all cylinders on offense, having scored 54.3 points and gained an average of 590.3 yards per game over the first three weeks of the season. Tech has its own defensive deficiencies (opponents have averaged 491.7 yards per game), and TCU is as explosive as expected offensively (49.7 points, 598.7 yards per game), but Lubbock is sure to be rocking Saturday.

A close game is likely, and an upset is possible.
