High Value Quarterbacks

Tyrod Taylor (7,000): Taylor hasn’t been perfect, but he’s been impressive in Rex’s offense in his first year as a starting QB.  Sunday was a perfect picture of the danger and the upside of rolling with Tyrod since he threw three picks as well as three touchdowns while piling up 242 yards passing and another 43 yards and a fourth TD on the ground.  He’s a dual-threat QB and has posted 15.9 and 28.98 FanDuel points in his first two weeks.  This week, he’ll face a tough defense as he takes on the Dolphins in what could be a defensive struggle, but Taylor has gotten off to a good start and showed he can make enough plays to make him a consideration if you’re looking for a value play at QB.

Derek Carr (6,600): Carr injured his thumb and left week 1 early, but he returned with an extremely impressive win in his first full game this season in Oakland in week 2.  As the Ravens visited the Bay, Carr threw for 351 yards and three touchdowns while also throwing a pick.  He finished with 27.34 FanDuel points.  This week, Carr leads the Raiders on the road where he faces a tough matchup against the Browns’ solid secondary.  I still like him as a solid value play, though, since he still costs so little and it looks like Oakland is ready to put the ball in his hand and let him air it out.

Nick Foles (6,500): Foles and the Rams have been up-and-down in their first two weeks.  They looked great to start the season upsetting the Seahawks, but they came crashing back to earth in Washington where they lost to the Redskins.  This week, Foles and the Rams are back in the dome again as they take on the Steelers in Pittsburgh.  While the Steelers offense is sure to put up points, don’t overlook that the Steelers secondary has been very susceptible to attack through the air. Last week, Colin Kaepernick had good final numbers since he had to throw a lot when playing from behind.  Especially if Big Ben, Antonio Brown, and the returning Le’Veon Bell pour it on early, Foles could end up airing it out more than he has in either game so far this season. He’s still a very high risk play this week since he has yet to throw multiple TD’s in any game this season, but I think he has a good chance to do that on FanDuel week 3.
