Based on their game on Thursday Night Football against the Redskins, the Giants backfield has turned into a three-way timeshare between Rashad Jennings, Shane Vereen, and Andre Williams.  On Thursday, Williams played 23 snaps while Vereen played 22 and Jennings 21.

The reason that Williams deserves a look on the fantasy football waiver wire is that he’s clearly the team’s goal line back and short yardage weapon.  He took two carries at the goal line this week converting his first touchdown of the season and finishing with 29 yards on his 14 carries. Williams is still a non-factor at this point in the passing game and won’t usually pile up heaps of yardage; however, his touchdowns and his increasing workload make him an interesting player to keep an eye on.

This week, the Giants face the Bills, and I wouldn’t start Williams unless you don’t have any other options. I do think Williams is worth adding, though, if you can stash him to see if his role continues to grow.  The Giants offense is starting to come together and Williams could have fantasy value if he carves out enough of the time share.
