2016 NFL Mock Draft: Week 3 edition
By Dani Bostick
Despite tremendous promise and hype, the Eagles are off to a rough start this 2015 season. A big part of their troubles originate on the offensive line. Though the line stood up relatively well against the Jets defensive front, the overall inefficacy of their line is preventing the team for leveraging one of their best assets: DeMarco Murray. One of the reasons Murray was so wildly successful with the Cowboys was because of consistently terrific run blocking.
Max Tuerk could be the solution the Eagles need. Tuerk is versatile, having played both tackle and center at Southern Cal. At 6’6″ and 285, Tuerk could benefit from some added bulk, but pounds are easy to come by in the NFL. It was reported that former Philadelphia Eagle Alejandro Villanueva added nearly 100 pounds to his frame in one year during his transition to offensive lineman.
Tuerk’s biggest assets are his athleticism, quickness, and balance. Having played many positions on the line, he is a competent pass protector and also excels at run blocking, something that will benefit the Eagles and help them get the most out of their offensive weapons and protect their injury-prone quarterback.
