2016 NFL Mock Draft: Week 3 edition
By Dani Bostick
With Rex Ryan at the helm, the Buffalo Bills appear to have the leadership and depth they need to be serious contenders in the NFL instead of the laughing stock of the league. With a passable situation at quarterback, a few nice options at running back, a functional offensive line, and effective defense, the Bills do not have many urgent needs.
Depending on when they end up drafting, they may choose to beef up their secondary as Ryan did with the Jets, or improve their defensive depth. One possibility is drafting wide receiver Laquon Treadwell. Treadwell could provide a through-the-air counterpart to LeSean McCoy in addition to Sammy Watkins and Percy Harvin.
The only reason Treadwell isn’t considered a higher pick at this point is because of a stomach-churning leg injury he suffered last season. Prior to that injury he was enjoying a highly productive season with 632 yards on 48 receptions and five touchdowns.
So far this season, Treadwell leads hi s team in total receiving yards at 332. Both Cody Core and Quincy Adeboyejo have more touchdowns, Treadwell’s strong performance so far is a sign that he has made a full recovery from his injury. If he gains momentum throughout the season, he could be drafted much sooner than 24th.
He had his best game of the season in a competitive game against Vanderbilt in Week 4. During that game, he had 8 catches for 135 yards. That bodes well for his NFL future.
