Offensive Player of the Week

A.J. Green, WR Cincinnati Bengals

For some unexplained reason, Green has fallen behind the group of top-end receivers when it comes to public perception. His Week 3 performance was a nice reminder that he is unquestionably elite. Green led Cincinnati to a 28-24 victory over Baltimore with 10 catches for 227 yards and two touchdowns and, with all due respect to Andy Dalton, it didn’t come with one of the best quarterbacks in the league tossing him the rock. Green is a stud on a weekly basis, and the Bengals are one of the better stories in the league at 3-0 with two road wins.

Runner-up: Devonta Freeman, RB Atlanta Falcons

Defensive Player of the Week

Tyrann Mathieu, DB Arizona Cardinals

This really is a nod to the Cardinals, who decimated Colin Kaepernick to the tune of a 47-7 victory that wasn’t even as close as the score indicates. Mathieu contributed two interceptions, including one for a touchdown, as Arizona’s pass defense befuddled the entire San Francisco roster. Mathieu isn’t the best player on the defense in Arizona, but he was certainly all over the field this week, and he added five tackles to go along with two game-changing picks.

Runner-up: Alec Ogletree, LB St. Louis Rams
