2. Phog Allen Fieldhouse (Kansas Jayhawks)

In the heart of Lawrence, KS lies a magical place known as Phog Allen Fieldhouse where the Kansas Jayhawks call home. Sitting in the epicenter of where the game of basketball itself was invented by James Naismith, the history is palpable whenever you enter the Fieldhouse. Combine that with fans passionate about the game and their school and opponents will always have a tall task on their hands playing at Kansas.

National Championship banners and jerseys of basketball legends line the rafters of Allen Fieldhouse accompanying the simple aura of an arena sitting in the birthplace of the game of basketball. Looking around walking into the arena and then seeing the history in the arena is enough to leave any player unfamiliar with the arena awestruck at the sights. There’s a reason the Jayhawks are 728-109 in the building since 1955.

However, history isn’t enough on its own to make Phog Allen one of the toughest places to play in college basketball. The Jayhawks fans and their chants of “Rock Chalk” and so on raining down from behind either basket are intimidating in their own right. They may not be the loudest or craziest fans in college basketball, but they embrace their environment and wildly show their support for their team. Those fans in that arena with all of that history put the Jayhawks just below the top of these rankings.
