The Washington Wizards have a new alternate jersey and it doesn’t look good

The Washington Wizards have high hopes once again as they are set to begin the 2015-16 NBA season. John Wall and company are surely looking to build off of a strong showing in the postseason last year and take another step forward as a franchise. In doing that, they’ll also be adding a new look in terms of their jerseys for the upcoming season.

On Wednesday, the Wizards unveiled their “Baltimore Pride” alternate jerseys, which the team plans to wear for six games in the 2015-16 season. While new jerseys can be a good look for a team, it’s hard to say the word “good” when talking about the Wizards’ new alternates:

Don’t look at them too long because I’m pretty sure that’s how you go blind.

These jerseys are designed to pay homage to the Baltimore Bullets jerseys from the 60s and 70s and they accomplish that well enough, but that doesn’t make them look any less unsightly. That vertical stripes with the logo on them looks just plain terrible. The fact that the stripe continues onto the shorts only makes it worse.

I’m glad the Wizards are showing respect to the history of the organization, but these jerseys in 2015 are a bad look. How someone designing these didn’t think to themselves, “These kind of look like pajamas your grandma would give you and that you’d never wear” is beyond me.
