Max Scherzer had some fun with the Papelbon incident by mockingly choking Bryce Harper on Thursday night

The Washington Nationals have been under serious fire from the media over the past week. In the wake of the brawl between Jonathon Papelbon and Bryce Harper that featured the closer choking the National League MVP candidate, the Nats and management have been getting skewered for their second-half collapse this season and for the incident itself.

That doesn’t mean the players can’t have a little fun at their own expense, though.

After handshakes prior to the Nationals’ game with the Atlanta Braves on Thursday night, pitcher Max Scherzer went into the dugout where Harper was seated and decided to mock the whole incident in hilarious fashion:

As funny as the joke fight is on the part of Scherzer, Harper’s positioning and face in that still are fantastic. He looks like a bad actor doing an “Oh no” reaction face and it’s amazing in this instance.

The Nats are going to miss the postseason and people are going to continue to blame it on this, that, and the other while also bringing up the Papelbon-Harper brawl. However, it seems like everyone beyond Papelbon has already moved on from the incident being anything serious. Now it’s only something to poke fun at.
