3. San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs just seem to be the retirement home for aging NBA veterans. If you want to go out on top and in style, travel to San Antonio where your minutes will be monitored and your head coach is a genius.

Yeah, Gregg Popovich is the best head coach in the game right now. That cannot be questioned. Somehow he gets the most out of his players by savoring their minutes and keeping them well rested for the playoffs.

The unselfish style of basketball isn’t exactly Bryant’s calling card, but it’s not like he’s ignorant to sharing the basketball — in spite of the internet memes. The base of the triangle offense that Bryant grew up in with Jackson was spacing the floor and facilitating movement. He could easily adjust to Popovich’s scheme and give the Spurs another option at shooting guard in case Manu Ginobili decides to hang it up after this season.

If Tim Duncan were to pick up his player option for the 2016-17 season, you’re talking about a legendary potential lineup:

PG – Tony Parker

SG – Kobe Bryant

SF – Kawhi Leonard

PF – LaMarcus Aldridge

C – Tim Duncan

Tell me that lineup doesn’t make you drool. When you think about how potent that offense could be with Bryant serving as second or third option — yikes.

Picture a classic high screen and roll between Parker and Duncan. Parker penetrates and kicks out to Leonard, who then executes a dribble hand off with the point guard. Aldridge comes and sets a quick screen for Parker who dives to the basket, draws an extra defender, and finds an open Bryant sliding into the corner for the knock-down three.

That would be a beautiful sight to see, ladies and gentlemen.
