Detroit Lions fans troll ‘blind’ refs with billboards
Lions fans are coming hard with the hot takes after they to robbed by officials on Monday night int he sequel to the Seattle Screwjob.
Detroit Lions’ fans are calling out Monday night officials for being “Blind to the bat” after an officiating error may have given the Seattle Seahawks an unjust win.
With under two minutes remaining in the game and the Seahawks holding a 13-10 lead, Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson rushed towards the end zone and extended his arm to cross the goal line. Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor forced a fumble before Johnson crossed the plane.
Seahawks linebacker K.J Wright then recovered the ball and swatted it through the back of the end zone for a touchback but it turns out, he should’ve been penalized for an illegal bat and the Lions should’ve been given the ball back at the 1-yard line.
A group of Lions fans decided to purchase seven billboards around the Detroit metro area for the week that criticize the officials for missing the controversial call.
According to ESPN, this group of anonymous Lions’ fans is the same group that purchased billboards during Ndamukong Suh’s free agency, and last season’s controversial missed pass-interference call against the Dallas Cowboys.
