The San Antonio Spurs have won five NBA championships, and Tim Duncan has been a major part of each and every one too. He arrived in San Antonio, due to an infamous slice of luck with the timing of injuries giving an already good team the chance to add a generational player.

“The Admiral” David Robinson had made four All-NBA First Team appearances, as well as having been named MVP, before Duncan even arrived in the NBA, yet it was the presence of the stoic young superstar that changed San Antonio’s course in history.

Duncan is not a player, nor a man who deals in the spectacular, but there’s a grace and efficiency to his place that is a work of art in it’s own right. Hence, his nickname being “The Big Fundamental”.

He sees the court as well or better than a lot of guards. When I look at him I see nothing but greatness. – Jerry West

Duncan is incredibly still thriving at the age of 39, and cementing his legacy as the greatest power forward ever. Just like Robinson before him, Duncan now has a man to hand the franchise over to as well in the shape of LaMarcus Aldridge. Even when that day comes though, make no mistake, San Antonio will always belong to Timmy.
