4. Washington Redskins

This one is kind of funny because somehow the Washington Redskins are 2-2 — thanks to the St. Louis Rams and the Eagles.

In all fairness, Washington’s run defense has been superb. Through four weeks, they’ve yet to give up more than 87 rushing yards in a game. That’s very impressive for a team that many labeled as having the most toxic locker room in the National Football League.

To be clear, right now the Redskins’ situation isn’t ideal. Yes, they’re not going to go winless this season — hooray for Redskins fans. But again, it’s hard to imagine Washington competing for anything in the NFC East if the Giants and Cowboys are healthy.

And even if Washington found a way to sneak into the playoffs, there isn’t even a puncher’s chance it could knock off Green Bay or Seattle.

Kirk Cousins is a free agent after this year. Robert Griffin III is owed about $16 million next season before his contract is up. DeSean Jackson, even if healthy, would have a helluva time trying to find a spot in this offense. Cousins has as many touchdowns as he has interceptions right now, and that tends to be a bad sign.

Obviously, there’s a lot of talent on the Redskins’ roster. Look, there’s a lot of talent on all of these rosters, but that doesn’t mean Washington should keep going down the same path because they’re invested in it. That’s the worst thing to do.

Okay, they gave up every draft pick in the world to the Rams to move up and draft RG3. They need to accept that and move on. No one is benefiting from that situation right now. Alfred Morris, who is supposed to be the most talented offensive player on the roster has suddenly regressed and lost carries to rookie Matt Jones.

The only seemingly winnable games remaining on Washington’s schedule (barring major injuries) are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints, the Bears and the Eagles. Is a 6-10 season worth holding on to?

Blow it up, Washington. Clear house and start to rebuild through the draft. It’s best for everyone if you do.
