Running Back Week 5 sleepers

Dion Lewis-New England Patriots (FD-6,900, DK-4,800): Lewis’s value has been held down a little bit since he sat most of the second half of the Patriots’ domination of the Jags in week 3 before their bye week. However, it’s still clear he’s the #1 option in the New England backfield for passing downs and carried most of the workload until the Jacksonville game was out of hand.  He and Gronk were both rested in that game, and I see Lewis as the team’s primary back still.  He and the Patriots are in Dallas this week against a struggling Dallas run defense that has been crushed the past two weeks by the Falcons and Saints.  New England with an extra week to prepare should be ready to roll through big D and leave with a big W.

Todd Gurley-St. Louis Rams (FD-6,700, DK-4,300): Gurley had a huge week last week in his first full NFL game rushing for 146 yards against the Cardinals.  He was especially effective late in that game and has the potential to go off again this week as the Rams take on the Packers.  Game situation may not allow the Rams to run as much as they did this week, but if and when they can pound the rock Gurley looks ready to be a fantasy beast.

T.J. Yeldon-Jacksonville Jaguars (FD-6,600, DK-4,400): Yeldon is one of the few feature-back’s available in this price range and handles almost all of the Jaguars’ backfield opportunities.  He is coming off his first 100+ yard game in the NFL last week and is in a great matchup against the Bucs this week. Yeldon will get touches, and against the Bucs he should be able to produce with them.

Duke Johnson Jr.-Cleveland Browns (FD-5,900, DK-4,600): One of my sleeper picks who delivered last week was Duke Johnson, and as a result his price has jumped quite a bit this week.  Johnson  had eight carries for only 31 yards but produced 85 more yards and a touchdown on his nine catches.  He’s become one of Josh McCown’s best receiving options and should continue to get enough touches to produce nice points this week against the Ravens.
