The early slate of games on Sunday were fun, weren’t they? Three games went to overtime, and two others decided by one point. All in all it was a wild ride.
It seems like a long time ago when everyone thought Kansas City had a puncher’s chance at taking the AFC West. On Sunday the entire Chiefs fan base had its collective heart ripped out inside Arrowhead Stadium. First the team lost Jamaal Charles to a knee injury, then they suffered a monumental collapse to the previously hapless Chicago Bears. Looking back now, Kansas City’s season went off the rails when they went belly-up against the Broncos – the team has never recovered.
Elsewhere, the Bengals continue to prove that they can win close contests – the latest being a comeback overtime thriller against a resurgent Seattle Seahawks club. The Falcons have now shown that they can win in all three phases of the game. On a day when Matt Ryan didn’t play exceptionally well, Atlanta pulled out a victory on the back of a strong defensive showing and a running game that the team has lacked for several seasons now.
The cream is really starting to separate this season. The aforementioned Bengals and Falcons, along with the Patriots and Packers sit atop the league and all look like world-beaters. Meanwhile, teams like Detroit and Houston have completely bottomed out. Meeting in the middle are squads such as the Bears (finding footing) and Cowboys (trying desperately to survive the injury bug) grappling to stay afloat.
Let’s take a look at the Week 6 version of the FanSided NFL Power Rankings.
