High Value Running Backs

Giovani Bernard (6,700): Bernard has been outplaying his timeshare-mate Jeremy Hill  so far this season and has been getting more work as a result.  He even totaled over 100 yards last week against the Seahawks rushing for 80 yards on 15 carries and adding 21 yards on five catches.  Hill may still get some short yardage and goal line work, but Bernard has been the better back and is a nice mid-range play this week in Buffalo even though it’s not a great matchup.

Charcandrick West (6,200): West is expected to get most of Jamaal Charles workload as the Chiefs try to replace their injured star.  He’s high-risk since we’re not quite sure how heavy his workload will be or how he’ll do, but he’s a pretty cheap play for a starting back with plenty of upside.

Duke Johnson (5,900): Johnson’s price continues to rise, but his production still makes him a good play even in a tough game against Denver this week. Johnson has at least six catches in each of his last three games (all started by Josh McCown) and should be involved enough in the passing game to make him a safe and solid investment for FanDuel week 6. Johnson could get even more time if Isaiah Crowell is limited at all with his toe injury.

Antonio Andrews (5,400): Andrews is stuck in a revolving backfield in Tennessee, but he seems to be the goal line back of choice which makes him one of the cheap options worth rolling the dice on in Fanduel week 6.  Andrews ran for a one-yard touchdown against Buffalo while totaling only nine yards on his seven carries. Andrews did add a healthy 45 yards on three catches, and his role as receiving back and goal line back make him an attractive play even though he has to share touches with Bishop Sankey and Dexter McCluster.

Chris Thompson (5,100): Another back in a timeshare but getting enough work to be worth a shot is Chris Thompson of the Redskins.  He has to share time with Alfred Morris and Matt Jones, but Thompson has three straight games with at least seven FanDuel points and is involved out of the backfield has a receiver with 16 catches in the team’s last three games.

Javorius Allen (5,100): The Ravens lack of receivers has forced them to become run-heavy, but now they are dealing with some injuries in their backfield as well. Justin Forsett rolled his ankle last week and was forced to leave the game allowing Allen to run for a career-high 58 yards on eight carries.  With Lorenzo Taliaferro on IR, Allen is Forsett’s primary backup and could be one of the best deals of the week if Forsett is unable to suit up or forced to be limited on Sunday.  The 49ers defense has struggled in every way so far this year and Allen could step right in to a great matchup.

Theo Riddick (5,000): Riddick continues to be a very nice value play even though he doesn’t get a ton of carries. He is incredibly involved as a receiver in the Lions’ attack making him valuable in PPR leagues or even in half-point-per-reception leagues like FanDuel.  Riddick has at least five catches in every game since week 1 and last week he hauled in ten catches for 53 yards and his first score of the season.  This week against the Bears, the Lions will likely have to take to the air meaning Riddick will again be heavily involved in their gameplan especially due to the struggles of Joique Bell and Ameer Abdullah.
