3. New York Jets

Despite perceptions, the fact that Ryan Fitzpatrick is their quarterback, the media circus that always seems to be around them, and everything else, I actually think that the New York Jets are a quality football team in 2015. Even if it did come in some favorable matchups, I don’t think it’s a fluke by any means that they have started the season 3-1.

However, I also happen to think that it’s a bit of a fluke that the Washington Redskins are just 2-3 through their first five games of the 2015 season. Through all of the drama of their own, the Redskins have shown a ton of improvement on the defensive side of the ball from last season and Kirk Cousins and the offense have been competent-to-good through much of the year. They didn’t back into taking the Atlanta Falcons into overtime in Week 5 or a victory over a St. Louis Rams team that might actually be pretty good in Week 2.

What I’m getting at is that this has the potential to be a much better matchup than the Jets and Redskins matchup might indicate. I think that the Redskins defense has the chance to make it difficult for Fitzpatrick and the Jets to move the ball, while I think the same is true for the Jets defense and the Washington offense.

Ultimately, this feels like it’s going to become a grind-it-out type of affair on Sunday afternoon. While I think the Jets defense is a step above the Redskins’ and while I don’t have particular faith in Cousins or Fitzpatrick, there’s a definite chance that the Jets could drop this one.
