2. Baltimore Ravens

How odds makers can continue to look at the Baltimore Ravens and how the team has played through their first five games of 2015 and see a team that deserves to be favored is beyond me. That’s why it seems even more far-fetched that the Ravens are on the road this week and are still favored by a point over the San Francisco 49ers.

I get that the Niners were everyone’s whipping boy heading into last week. They looked like a team with a gigantic dinner fork sticking out of their back, particularly in the case of quarterback Colin Kaepernick. However, the 49ers showed real promise, heart, and signs of life despite losing to the Giants in primetime and definitely gave their fans and the general public at least some reason to be cautiously optimistic.

Meanwhile, the Ravens have been abysmal defensively and not much better on offense so far this season. Moreover, their one victory came in Week 4 because the Pittsburgh Steelers had Mike Vick at quarterback and the Pittsburgh kicker looked like Charlie Brown working with Lucy as the holder when the team needed three points.

The way for the Ravens to win this game would be to take advantage of San Francisco’s shaky defense, but with only Justin Forsett looking like a threat, I’m not sure if Baltimore is fully capable of that. I feel much more confident in Kaepernick and Carlos Hyde looking like they did last week against the Giants as they face a bad Ravens defense this week than I do about Joe Flacco and a slew of mediocre receivers in a shootout. Subsequently, the Ravens are at least in danger of falling to the underdog 49ers.
