San Diego Chargers (+10.5) over Green Bay Packers

I have to take the Chargers. I just have to.

Make no mistake, Green Bay is going to win this game outright, and the Packers are much better than the Chargers right now. Still, San Diego is better than their public perception (and this line) would indicate, as they are getting more than ten (!) points despite a semi-respectable record at 2-3.

It isn’t fun to go against Aaron Rodgers at Lambeau Field and I recognize that, but Vegas is treating the Chargers as if they were the Jaguars and there is value in the underdog in this spot. Give me Philip Rivers with a major cushion and take that to the window with pleasure.

Philadelphia Eagles (-4) over New York Giants

For the second straight week, I’m giving out the Eagles as a favorite. As anyone who follows this space closely would recognize, that is very rare for me, but once again, Philadelphia is getting no respect from the casual handicapper. 80% (!) of the action (via Vegas Insider) is coming in on the Giants as road underdogs, but the line has actually gone up by a half-point or more in some spots, indicating that the sharp money is on Chip Kelly’s team.

I will continue to believe in Philly’s talent level until they beat that belief out of me, and I’m going to the well again with the backing of the wise guys. Let’s hope Monday is successful.
