Charcandrick West-Kansas City Chiefs

The most picked up player on ESPN’s fantasy football this week was undrafted running back out of Abilene Christian Charcandrick West. West played six games for the Chiefs last year on special teams, but has quickly grown into a big part of the Chiefs’ backfield solution this week.

The reason the Chiefs are looking for answers in the backfield is that Jamaal Charles is done for the year after blowing out his knee last week (for those of you that have been under a rock for a week). It was clear even before Charles’ injury that West had passed Knile Davis as Charles’ primary backup, and now he’ll get a chance to step in and produce.

This Sunday giants the Vikings, West will get some run as the running back for KC, but he will also have to share time with Knile Davis. No one is exactly sure how the situation will work out, but West has huge upside since the Chiefs’ offense is so focused on the running back as a playmaker as both a rusher and a receiver out of the backfield.  If he’s still available in your league like he is in 22% of ESPN leagues, he’s a great pickup based on his long term upside.  He also is one of the better cheap options on DraftKings (4,000) and is worth a look on FanDuel (6,200) although he’s not as much of a bargain on that site.
