Duke Johnson Jr.-Cleveland Browns

The Browns have been blending their backfield this season as second-year back Isaiah Crowell has been gradually losing time to Duke Johnson Jr. who the Browns drafted in the third round last year out of Miami. Johnson had some injury issues early in camp, but has been picking up the offense quickly and has taken a big jump the last three weeks since Josh McCown came back and replaced Johnny Manziel.

In each of the last three weeks, Johnson has at least six catches and has totaled over 75 yards in each of the last two weeks.  He found the end zone on a pass from McCown in the Browns’ game against the Chargers two weeks ago.  Last week, he got much more work than Crowell who also comes into this game nursing a toe injury.  He is questionable for week six, and if he can’t play or is limited it could mean more work for Johnson.  The Browns want to give Johnson more work as the season progresses, so adding him now is a good move if he’s available.

Johnson is still unowned in 45% of ESPN leagues, but his growing role in an improving offense makes him worth picking up as one of the running back sleepers. This week against Denver is a tough matchup, but the Broncos have actually allowed the eighth-most fantasy points in PPR leagues to opposing RB’s.  He is a great long-term add and can definitely be used at his affordable salary on DraftKings (4,500) or even on FanDuel (5,900) which is only half-point PPR.
