Ken Whisenhunt calls hit on Marcus Mariota ‘bullsh** football’
The Tennessee Titans lost to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon at LP Field, but that was not the only thing that had head coach Ken Whisenhunt steaming after the game. Whisenhunt, who has a combined 3-18 record with Tennesseee through his first two seasons with the club, was irate over Olivier Vernon’s hit on rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota in the first half.
As you can see, Vernon went low on Mariota, and very easily could have either tore his ACL or broken his leg.
Whisenhunt was having absolutely none of that hit, and when asked about it after the game, didn’t pull any punches.
It’s easy to understand where Whisenhunt is coming from. The Titans are pinning their franchise hopes on Mariota becoming a stud. If he gets hurt, this entire season is down the drain with nothing positive to show for it. Tennessee is currently sitting at 1-4 and in third place of the dismal AFC South, trailing both the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans.
Mariota struggled in a big way against Miami, throwing three interceptions in the defeat.
